Parents and Students First

Michael has given unparalleled personal access and communication to students, parents, grandparents, community members, staff and teachers. He is widely known as the “go to” Board Member for families who need help or information. The word most commonly used to describe him is “tireless.”
Safety and Equality
Brought a resolution to the board that condemns anti-semitism and directs the superintendent to appoint a dedicated ombudsman to handle discrimination complaints and report to the board.
Supported an anti-discrimination resolution that affirms rights and safety for ALL groups of marginalized students.
Supported hiring the National Conflict Resolution Center to provide mediation and other support services to staff and students.
Led efforts to improve school restroom safety and hire additional campus supervisors.
